TSB for belt chirp..the new part didn't fit!

TSB for belt chirp..the new part didn't fit!
I decided to have my local dealer perform the TSB 09-004-06 fix for that chirping belt at shutoff. They look it up and verify it's validity and check that they have the required part..of they go to the garage with part in hand. The diesel tech comes out after a while and gets the service manager..they disappear for a bit and then return saying the pulley called out in the TSB will NOT FIT..!! They double check all the TSB data/part number and so forth and all seems right. Tech wonders if perhaps there are exceptions or maybe different generators on some trucks, but bottom line...cannot help me with what they know at present. The manager says they will do some research on it as time permit. Guess I'll learn to love that chirp after all.

That TSB is BS, its mainly made for the caravans and other smaller cars.
its puts a small free wheeling clutch (I think its that TSB) to fix it. Those clutches fail on the cars, and I would never put one on such a large alt that the CTD has.

These Cummins 5.9L engines have had the belt chirp since 1988. That's 18 years and who knows how many engines produced by Cummins. Granted, the newer trucks don't experience the chirping, or rarely experience it. Bottom line is that the chirping shouldn't hurt the belt.

My factory one did not chirp. I figured at 47,000 miles and it looking not bad but winter is coming. I replaced with a Napa belt. Ran fine for 1 week. Now CHIRPS loud enough to scare the crows away in the trees. 
I tried finding a Gator Back but no local auto stores sell Goodyear anymore. Gator Back fixed my 1st gen all the time.
Too much of a pain to try and put factory one back on. Just dealing with CHIRP now.

Sometimes my '06 chirps loudly - other times it doesn't at all. Just wait to shut it down at the precise moment that the #4 cylinder is coming up on the exhaust stroke and it wont chirp.

Yes, it is normal on diesel trucks (my 01 Ford PSD was very loud). But, it DOES stress the belt, and many of us have had prematurely shredded belts on our common-rail Cummins motors. (My original went at only 5400 miles, and required a flatbed to the dealer.) THe TSB did not exist at the time. The original belt had VERY bad chirp, every time. The Mopar replacement sometimes does and sometims doesn't, but never as bad as the original OEM. The replacement belt is cross-hatched, while the original was only ribbed.
This TSB addresses the issues the chirping and possible shredding with the override clutch installation. I'll take peace of mind over the chirp.
Of course, leave it to DC to screw up their own TSB!!

Has your replacement been OK? Not saying that the chirping causes it, just that it DOES stress the belt, and some "lesser" belts might go prematurely. I'm convinced that happened with mine, even thought the dealer said it was just "install wrong". No it wasn't - I would have noticed, because I make it a point to look under the hood regularly.

The belt's in good shape...no problems since then. I've also heard that there is a TSB for the pulleys being misaligned, or something of that nature, that was causing belt shredding. Don't quote me on that though, but I swear I remember reading it somewhere.
