Torque Converter Hunting

The problem is that the torque converter cycles randomly in and out when in overdrive.

4 years ago I put in the RFI filter. and that fixed the problem, although every 6 months or so I had to to clean the ground on the RFI unit to keep it working properly.

It began hunting again 2 weeks ago so I cleaned the RFI ground and the problem did not go away. Today I cleaned the block grounds and the battery terminals and still have the problem. I forgot to check the codes this moring but will do it in the am.

I did a search and found where this problem is also associated with the APPS, is that right?

Thanks for reading ....gary

Id try the apps reset, nothing to loose and cost nothing but a few minutes of your time.

What are the chances that the RFI filter is on the fritz and I am back to the original problem?

thanks...gary

I went through this for the 15th time last week. After cleaning all grounds, all 4 battery connections and still having the problem, I unplugged the connector on firewall and re-seated it and the same with the ground cable where it has the quick disconnect near the right fenderwell. Working well ever since.

I saw the connector on the right fender, was going to clean it up but for some reason did not do it.

Where is the other connector you are talking about? Can you tell me specifically where it is located?

thanks...gary

Passenger side firewall, 3 different connectors, one has the lock-up wire, I can't remember if it's the center one, or the one toward the driver side, just unplugged each and re-connect them. I've done the apps reset too, usually a connection though. Make sure your harness isn't laying on top of the alternator, mine was until I noticed that, just moved a little bit and zip tied it away from alt.

i have done everything as you, once a year i have to remove the battery cables, remove the bolts, drill out the cables bolt holes with a 5/16 drill bit (they get full of crud) take a cut off wheel and open the gap on the cable ends, clean them with a die grinder with 2 differnt style wire brushes, put in new bolts, I'm good for a year or so unitl it starts hunding for OD again.

i discovered they were not clamping the posts tight due to the gap pinching shut (no clampig load on the posts)
