Tires and wheels

I was looking at my buddies truck 2002 2500 CTD quad cab short bed today and was noticing his tires and wheels. The truck had the stock Michelin on but the looked wider and beefer. I guess the wheels are the same size but just different style right? Does anyone know the tire size and if they would fit my stock wheel? Plus how well do you like them, what model are they? thanks for the help guys. -Anthony

Re:Tires and wheels

Have you been happy with them so far, last pretty long. I guess the rims are the same size then. -Anthony

Re:Tires and wheels

If memory serves, the newer style aluminums are 16x8, the older chrome steel wheels were 16x7. I stuck a set of 16x10's on mine, they really stick out compared to stock.

I cant complain about them. Bought my truck at the end of may and now have 25k on it. The tires have a even wear and look like they will go at least another 30k. I have yet to rotate them.

Re:Tires and wheels

I hate to burst you bubble but I don't think the aluminum wheels will fit the older trucks. I tried a set on my 99 and they wouldn't clear the rear drums. [undecided] I've heard you can grind down the lip on the drum and then they will fit, but I didn't want to try that. :-[

I now have 33x12.50 BFG Mt Km's mounted on 16.5x9.75 Weld RoadHawk wheels and wouldn't trade them for anything.

By the way the chrome steel wheels were 16x6.5. 8)

DB

Re:Tires and wheels

DarrellB is correct. A friend of mine and I tried to put my wheels on his 99 and they hit the outer lip of the drum on the rear. Someone is running them, I believe they turned the drums down. Another option would be to run a thin spacer, I believe you would only need about a 1/4 inch to mget them to fit.
