Tire size setting, -miles

I was just thinking, couldnt a person take one of these fancy tools that change the tire size, and make their computer in their truck think they have real small tires, so at 70, it says they are going about 40? with the end result being a lot less miles accumulated on the truck than are actually driven? it just seems too easy, especially someone with access to a DRBIII, I know you can set the revoultions per mile with those, seems like a very easy to commit odometer fraud. Doesnt it screw up anything in the truck?

My truck is about 5mph off at highway cause I have oversize tires, but dont have a smarty (yet) so I can change it. It kinda sucks to think your going 75 and get pulled over for 81

I've wondered that same thing, can tire size not only make your speed appear off but also make your odometer run faster/slower?

just unhook your speed sensor if you don't want any miles to be put on it! I did that one time with a rental van (we were on a church trip). Took it back and we only put "120" miles on it! lol!

That won't work on the auto trucks or the newer manuals to many controllers need a speed signal.

yeah, everything would be screwed up, I someone said on here a while back that it would mess up yer ABS if u changed the tire size to way smaller than what you have, Dont really know how it would, especially on trucks like my 99 that only have rear wheel ABS. awful tempting huh?
