idk if I'm the only one with this problem, but sometimes if I'm not paying attention ill go to shift into 5th gear and it will get stuck between 3rd and 5th. Then I have to take my shifter out and stick a screw driver in the top of transmission and stick back into gear. How do I fix this?

same thing happened to me all the time, I fixed it by putting in an nv4500. The problem is the components in your shift cover are wearing out, so no real easy fix. only thing i can think to check first is that the screw in pins that the shifter stub rides on are in place and tight.

Ok thanks. My dads buddy owns a diesel performance shop. How much o you think it will run me on the cost of the tranny? I've been wanting to put a new one one in.

the transmission will run you 1500-2000 for a new or reman. Then you will either have to get an adapter bell housing or parts from a truck that originally had an nv4500 in it. There is a lot of information on doing the swap on this forum. Use the search feature and you can find just about anything you need. By the way, tell us a little bout your truck in your signature.
