speedo bouncing. Not the usual culprit. Help?

Ok, so for the last while my speedo has been bouncing when I accelerate. It's usually pretty steady when I'm cruising. It's not the VSS adapter or a dirty connection like usual. I also noticed last night when I rev the truck in park the speedo bounces. More like a twitch up to 20 mph and then it goes dead again.

I'm thinking whatever is causing my speedo to bounce while revving the truck in park must be the culprit because the speedo only bounces when I am accelerating; revving the engine

Any ideas or things I can check to see what's causing this? Could the VSS be going bad or... ?

As an aside, my voltage is low but the truck is still charging. Not sure what's with that.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Maybe a ground? I'd give them all a once over, it's free to do, rather than throwing parts at it!

That's a good idea but I'm not even sure which grounds to check or where all the grounds are... :S

Run a new ground to the VSS. If that doesn't help, run a new wire from the VSS to the speedometer.

I had a good little laugh at your post there vagabond. A good laugh is a great thing from time to time!
As for the real problem, I'll try what you suggested. Maybe on Monday, when I'm off work.

I was curious and decided to check the voltage and resistance going to the VSS. It appears I'm getting good voltage at about 4.75volts but I'm not getting any resistance at all. It just reads 0. Shouldn't it be arund 1 ohm or something like that? Is that a sign of a bad ground?
