Shaky Mirrors

Is there anyway to fix the side mirrors. Mine vibrate all the time. I can still see out of them fairly good, but they shake enough to be annoying.

I believe there is a thread on here about fixing the mirror. The problem is how the glass is fastened on. You should be able to do a search and find it as I read it back some time ago. I had the same problem on my 04.5 - the pass. side tow mirror - VERY annoying!! But I traded the truck before I got around to doing it. It seemed like a simple fix.

Sometimes the mirror arm mounting nuts/bolts loosen. Open door, check the mirror mounting nut forward of the door panel. If loose, add a drop of locktite 242 and snug it up.

Otherwise, take off the door panel (very easy) and check the rest of the mirror arm nuts/bolts.

The arm is mounted tight. its the actual mirror its self. I can press down on the mirror and get it to stop. It looks like the eletric motor has just a tad bit of play in it which causes it to shake. I am out of warranty already. I will try to find that thread your talking about. I did a search already.

If you adjust the mirror all the way, so you can see behind it, you can see small little wires/coat hanger like things that are there to stabilze the mirror.
I just bent those a little on my mirrior and that fixed the wobble.
Been gone for about 25k now.
I think they just fatguie right there, and bending them moves the stress point over to a new location on the rod.

I had to replace my passanger side mirror (not the whole assembly, just the glass). The actual mirror just snaps in place onto the assembly that moves for adjustability. Maybe yours has come loose a little. Or, like you said, maybe the motor has too much play in it.

When I bought the replacement glass (only $21 which was nice), the customer service guy said that they are so easy to install and remove that people get them stolen every once in a while. It took me no more than 45 seconds to remove the old one and install the new one.
