Seat belt light

Hello everybody, what a terrific site .... been reading for a year or more, certainly learned a ton.my question is... the seat belt light comes on periodically.... just a long flash then goes out . No set pattern but is starting to get annoying. Anyone have a similar situation and a fix? My truck is an 02 2500 with an Edge, BHAF and some tranny mods. Thanks for all your help

I've been doing a lot of reading on this site also in the past few months, since I bought my truck, definately a great site...lots of very useful info. (this site saved my IP)
anyway...I have a bone stock '98.5 that does the same thing. Hopefully someone on here knows what the problem/fix is.

Welcome to the site.

This is just a guess but I'd start with the driver's buckle where the switch is. Put an ohmmeter across the two wires going into the plug and determine if your buckle is an open circuit or closed circuit when the seat belt is buckled. My guess is it is a closed circuit (you get continuity) but I'd check it first. Then I'd jumper those two wires and see if the problem goes away. If it does go away then you probably have a bad switch in the buckle and if it were me, I'd just leave the jumper in place and not worry about replacing the buckle. Who needs to be reminded to wear their seatbelt anyway? Seat belt reminders are for idiots and we're not idiots here, right?

Mine did it for a while last year, got pretty annoying too. I vaccumed the whole truck out, Viola, fixed it!

I guess there was a harness loose or I giggled the seatbelt just right to fix it. Hasn't been back on since.
