S&B Dry Filters
Here's some info on the S&B dry filters I got.I know someone earlier asked about them. The AEM dry filter has in our opinion extremely poor efficiency.
Efficiency is how you measure the protection offered by a filter. See www.thetruthaboutfilters.com
and click test results to see for yourself. Our Dry Filter has
comparable airfflow to our 8-layers of cotton gauze while still
providing extremely high efficiency rates. While AEM has good flow
rates, they achieve this at the expense of efficiency.
We do not feel AEM's claim that there filter is "cleanable" is valid
due to the low efficiency rates. Our cotton filters are cleanable. At
this point, we don't feel that it is possible to have a Dry filter
that is cleanable and still achieves the same performance (airflow &
efficiency) as cotton. With that said, you can extend the life of our
Dry filter by blowing it out with compressed air, but ultimately it is
disposable. The life cycle of our new Dry Filter is 15,000 miles, but
it varies depending on your driving conditions.
We will start shipping the Dry Filters on 6/8/09.
Thanks for your interest.
