Replacing stripped rear wheel studs on a 2004 2500 SRW

What is involved in replacing stripped rear wheel studs on a single rear wheel 2004 2500? Do the hub and rotor have to be removed?

PM sent. Not too much help. I've just beat studs out with a 5lb sledge, probably not the best way to go...

Do you guys happen to know if the fronts and rears are the same? Dealer wants like $28 for a stud, and NAPA can only get fronts, which are like $5....

To pull the studs on the front axle seems pretty easy. However, for the rear axle you have to remove the hub in order to pull the rotor off. That involves pulling the rear axle and the rear axle bearings. It just seems like it should not be that involved to just replace a wheel stud.

Well, removing the rear axle is not as hard as it seems... just unbolt it from the hub and go. You might need new gaskets, but other than that and some more fluid...
