To Reflash Or Not To Reflash. That Is The Question

Hello again, guys. I just had my truck over to a local dealer for a minor recall to be performed and the service writer notified me that I've only had the G-30 reflash performed and no others since I've owned it (about 2 years now). I currently have 34k miles. The situation is this: the truck runs pretty well and I'm afraid any PCM reflashes may have a negative effect from what I've read on these forums. Would it be beneficial to have the updates performed or am I just asking for trouble?

If the updates do indeed provide better mileage, fewer regens and perhaps a visual indication of when regens occur I may be interested in having them done. The old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" might apply here but I'd like to get your input first. Thanks...

Is there a chance the newer flash will create problems? What are the possible benifits to the newest flash. Now decide if the risk is worth the possible reward knowing you can not go back.

I'm happy with my truck as it is so for me I won't do anything unless it is needed.

if you are not havimg issues I don't think I would.
my '07 had the original off the assembly line AR flash when I bought it.
I made the mistake of updating my Power pup and had to get the truck re flashed by the dealer to AZ so the Pup would work again. I haven't noticed any problems stemming from the flash but I also don't notice any improvements either.

I agree, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Mine regens at idle and has since new. I had mentioned something about it to the service writer one time and he said it had to be fixed, I told him don't do it.

saving fuel , better milage, fewer regens ...= less fuel = Less power... just my .02

That's the problem with having to make a decision. I've posted this question on another forum and some respondents say they've noticed improvements and others gave a negative response. I guess I'll leave well enough alone but it will still trouble me not knowing if the latest flash would have been beneficial for my particular truck .

I would ABSOLUTELY, MOST DEFINATELY, FOR SURE!!! update the ECM and CCN to the latest #. Net zero fueling strategy has eliminated ALL of my short trip, poor warm up cycle, never tow heavy problem children. It will definately help in reducing the likelyhood of any soot issues. Less soot, fewer regens. I would go with the updated o2 sensors also.

I get the latest flash shortly after it is released. I view the engine computer just like updates to a GPS, cellphone, computers, etc. They are released for a reason.
