Rear leaf removal?
Would it be possable to take out one or more leafs from the rear springs to get a little softer ride? Would it be worth the effort or would it have adverse effects?

Alot of guys take out the overload spring(bottom of the pack big fat spring)
BUT you lose load capacity.
I have a set of Carli mini packs I need to install(removes the overload, replaces it with a 5 pack) Should improve the ride quite a bit. Im just waiting on this dang heat to die down before I even start on it
If you do pull the overload, and tow heavy, get a set of airbags...

From what I hear, the mini pack improves the ride quite a bit! But the BEST way to get a good ride is full replacements(Carli/Lorenz/Thuren/Kore)etc
If you go with full replacements, get some airbags if you tow heavy.
As far as how much capacity you loose, I couldnt tell you a number
Just think though, whenever you load up, and its on the overloads, when they arent there, itll be sagging big time!

Id go with a mini pack(that replaces the overload anyway), or full replacements from any of the Big four(Thuren/Carli/Lorenz/Kore)
If you do either get a mini pack setup, or full replacements, id get some airbags if you tow more than 8k~ lbs
I dont see a small car trailer with a 3-4k lb car on it being a big deal, but towing heavier and youll be riding on the bump stops(unless you get bags)
Just my .02, im sure some guys will come along with some better advice(having done it already to tell you the ride quality)

The rear mini leafs will take the bite out of expansion joints and indulations (speed bumps and pot holes) for the most part. The full leafs will make it feel like you never went over rougher roads and etc. Remember the full leafs you will lose some of the factory towing capacity. They are made to ride rather than tow. You will need air bags if you tow heavy w/ the full leafs. Lorenz springs which are different than the rest (they are not Deaver) has removable bump stops to tow factory specs. You will still need air bags like stock to get some sagging out.

Carli was the first I think building a dual stage full leaf pack,he also has a std full leaf pack and of course the mini pack. You will not lose any wt capacity using the mini or full dual stage. The dual stage with long travel air bags does it all! Here is what it looks like articulated off road.

I'm gonna try it this week probably. I'll let you know. If your gonna tow heavy with it, definately get airbags. I never tow, just sled pull and I'll need some blocks or bags to do that again.
