Question about AFE torque tube

This may sound dumb but before I order I want to make sure the AFE torque tube will fit on the stock air intake or is this just meant for the AFE intake kit ?

I used to have a AFE Stage 2 kit on my other truck but after much research on intakes for my needs and hp there is no point upgrading to the full AFE Stage 2 or any other aftermarket intake for that matter as the stock is fine. My only reasoning for wanting the torque tube is more turbo whistle.

Thanks

I don't see why it wouldn't work. Both pieces should be the same in size(inlet wise), only the tq tube is a free flowing "S" shaped tube. I 'm trying to picture my long lost stock airbox setup, I think the stock box sits lower then the AFE setup. That might make the pipe to long. Someone else will have to chime in here.

You sure it's just not as worthwhile to look into a S&B kit that comes with a washable filter? You'd be one step ahead of your self when you decide to start modding.

It works and fits. I can't recommend it though. The baffel delete kit used to be cheaper. The boots that come with the AFE don't hold up. Got about 120k and they were shot. Big rip off if you ask me.

Well just put it on last night and now I can hear the turbo nicely. It's not as loud as when I had the full AFE stage 2 kit on my other truck which is odd

Can you post a few pictures? I was thinking about getting that or the dpp cool blue one.

Also, will the noise be okay for long trips or towing things long distance? Your silencer ring is removed, I guess its always easy to add back for road trips.

I drive 35 miles daily on the highway and it's not bad for me. You only really here it when you are on the pedal building boost. I would not want to be taking out the silencer and putting it back for trips, mine was way too difficult to remove.
The blue hose for me just does not match anything under the hood and looks goofy in my opinion. But that is just me. I like the black look
I will try to take some pics for you

Thanks, appreciate it. I was used to the whistle w/hx40 and bhaf in my 94. Its all but gone in this 06. Would be nice to get some back. I put holes in my airbox, it helped, but I think a tube and remove silencer ring is best. Yeah, the blue is kinda odd, wish they had a flat black version.

How do you feel about taking it off and on, is it pretty easy overall?
I take mine off everytime I change oil, easier and more room to the filter.

For me its either get this afe tube, or get that silencer insert from geno's garage, and keep the stock elbows.

Oh, did you zip tie the wire that is on top of the tube?
And how is the clearance to the exhaust manifold shield?

No issues with taking it on or off. It has good clearance no rubbing anywheres. Yes I did zip tie the sensor wire to some of the other wire loom down there. One point on there install they give you they tell you to put the silicon sleeve over the turbo housing first and then slip the tube in. Well I could not get it to fit and ended up putting the sleeve on the afe tube first and then applied a little bit of saliva to the silicon sleeve and it went on the turbo no problemo
