AFE Torque Tube
AFE Torque Tube
Anyone have any info on these? I have heard of them but AFE doesn't list them on their webpage and can't find out any other info. Anyone have pics? Price?
Thanks!
Thanks!
thought that I read on TDR or a link from there that it was over $125. Going on memory here and I have already confessed to suffering from CRS
.....maybe it was just a plant for some initial advertising since Merrick is stating that they are not ready yet...
John,, That's what my vedor told me, that AFE stated 2weeks to 1 month,,
I saw that thread also, and have seen advertisements,, ,,,, kinda makes me wonder...
No matter,, when AFE ships 'em , I will get some.
$125
Looks like They might be sitting around awhile,, LOL

If it really does cost $125, I hope it is an entire replacement pipe from the airbox to the turbo and not just the center piece.
FWIW, I'm very happy with my AIRAID Modular Intake Tube. It replaces the restrictive honeycomb intake tube and makes the turbo sing really nicely.

It might, and probably will. the thing is,, 20PSI boost, is 20PSI @ xx CFM. to get 200more cfm out of the motor, you have to (for conversation sake) bump the PSI some. You can't have 20PSI @ 500 CFM, and then 20PSI @ 800CFM (at same RPM) the motor will only ingest what it can.
Now, if the turbo is TRYING to suck 21PSI, and 700cfm, but the filter tube/filter is restricting it to 500cfm,, you are only going to make 20PSI. So, adding this tube would help,, but not untill you pass the efficiency of your current torque tube (Which is just about where Stock is)

Gary - thanks for clearing that up...I guess I do remember somethings after all....Sure seems high for a pipe and some couplings.....why powder coat? no need that I see. I will see what my machine shop can do out of stainless on that one....and the couplings are no big deal right??
Heavy gauge.....***...it only holds air...could be paper thin, I guess, and still work great...your not going to be standing on the thing....JMO and I am probably wrong.....JKE
Merrick - did you get my email??????????????????????????

I bought the AFE Intake Box/Filter and I wondered about the restrictive tube between it and the Turbo. I wondered why the other systems, for example a Hemi, I see for sale have a torque tube included to make an entire system.
This looks a little expensive for what it is, but remember it was listed at Retail Price in the link above. I believe we could build the same thing for much less than the retail price quoted, unless the dealers come off of the suggested retail price.
I do have another variable to consider, What about adding a TAG to this? Sounds awfully tempting to me! I think that a TAG would really round off the intake system. I would like to see a progressive dyno test on a CTD stepping from the bone stock air box to the AFE Performance Intake Air Box, then adding the AFE Torque Tube and finally installing the TAG.
From what I have read I believe the TAG would really complete this air intake system.

Looks like it is out. For a meager $120, plus shipping, it could be yours....OUCH!
