Where To Put Gauges In A 07?
I cant find any gauge locations i like. i want to run triple pods and keep my grab handle. I talked myself out of the outlook for the bddl because i bought the quad boost fooler and everyone says with that it doesnt read boost right and it has a weird defuel problem. I like the triple mount under the a/c controls on the 04 but i beleive they dont make one for mine hopefully im wrong? any help or suggestions always welcome. thanx in advance

If you like the looks of the digital stuff then look at the Commander. We have a pillar mount that keeps the grab handle, does not do any weird de-fueling stuff and will read boost correctly no matter what you plug into your truck.
It also does tranny, fuel pressure and rail pressure if desired.

I have an '07 and would like an all in one unit that will show Rear Diff, Trans, Boost, EGT and Fuel....can the commander handle these? If so, with what additions. If not all, which ones?

That looks very good and everything right in sight. I also like the fact that the commander defuels. Do you have your pyro pre or post turbo? What about fuel pressure before or after filter? I've heard the debate about the two but what is your position? I know ISSPRO has a kit but from what I've read the gauges can be hit or miss. I want a setup that is going to indicate exactly what is going on which is why I'd really rather have a trans temp indicator with the sensor in the send line going to the cooler so I can see exactly how hot the fluid is getting, not overall temp of the trans. Also, I figure I won't be doing to diff temp until I get a Maghytec diff cover once the fluid needs replacement.
There are so many combinations and locations for them that I've just got to sit down and work it out.

Well, techinically the Commander can do all of those but, the Tranny and Diff it cannot do at the same time. I have never done a diff temp sensor but, the way we do the transmission you can literally stick the probe anywhere you want and it will read temp as long as it is grounded.

So far all the guages seem to be right on.. Except the boost on the commander? Haven't figured that one out yet.. With the smarty and mp-8 I can hit 40 psi nothing flat.. But the commander will only go to 26 psi. Maybe Quad can help.. I installed the billet fuel cap from geno's and put my analog guage on that and the commander is installed at the cp3. There is a little variance in the two when I mash the go pedal but only 2-3 psi at full bore. I should have the commander hooked up for rail pressure tomorrow. So I will have boost(2) Tranny temp in mag-tec and line, rear diff, rail pressure, fuel pressure at filter and cp3, pryro post and pre! I pretty much have all my bases covered. I think if I had one fuel pressure kit I would tap it at the cp3. I didn't know the commander did rail pressure so I am jacked about that I was trying to figure out where to put 1 more guage and now I don't have too.. I like all analog and monitor's especially quad's commander.. I don't need it but the safety paramaters are what I got it for... De-fueiling is something that in my opinion is worth it's weight in gold!!

Is it tapped at the sensor and not upstream somewhere? It has to be on the MP8's wiring harness on the wire that goes into the actual sensor or it will read a "fooled" value.
Also lastly, you did choose the correct year model in the setup?
Also you are going to have to do some testing for me on the Mp8 here later this week or the beginning of next week. We have our translator done so that it gives the MP8 an off setting plus 10 additional levels and you can set it to automatically defuel the MP8 based on pretty much anything. Oh and you will no longer need the dial or switch.

Yeah I am running the mp-8.. Do I need to tap into that?? I just left it plugged into the factory harness on top of the mp-8 and It should be for the dodge unless when I updated it this weekend for the fuel pressure kit it re-set it..

Mostly I want to see when things are going outside normal parameters to show if something went awry in the truck. I'm an avionics technician on heavy transport aircraft C-130's mostly and it's kinda funny how the gauges I'm looking for are pretty much the same things on a turbo-prop engine (Fuel Pressure, Fuel Flow, EGT, Oil Temp, Oil Press, Tachometer, Torquemeter....) That would be a neat one to add...a torque meter. EGT on the plane works on the same basic principals as what these gauges do, alumel/chromel...Hot junction/cold junction.
Are the commanders set up for the '07 5.9? A specific part number I should order? A specific dealer you recommend?

What about if I wired in a SPDT switch between the diff sensor/trans so I could select which would show on the commander, think that would mess up the readings? Should be a minimum resistance change if any. The trans temp can change very quickly compared to the DIFF so I would be monitoring the trans continually and checking the DIFF occasionally. Would that possibly through a fault in the commander?

The Commander readings are spot on. I promise you they are dead accurate and we have resolution down to 1 deg. on EGT.
All the Commanders are the same part number. If you decide to move it to a new truck later you might need to update it via the USB port but, it will still work.
The DTR store has always been fair to their customers and do a good job for us but, we also have hundreds and hundreds of other places that are also fare. You can either shop online or if you need a local shop then let me know and I will see if I can find someone in your zipcode.

No matter what you do you always have to keep the signal wire at the actual sensor so it is reading what the sensor is putting out. If you leave it on the factory plug then it is reading what the MP8 is putting out.
