Power steering pump

What does it take to drain and refill the PSP. Is it connected to the HydraBoost brake system somehow? Do I need to worry about an air bubble or anything? Thanks, Kurt

Yes, it is connected to the hydraboost. I usually suck some out and top it back up a little at a time, our systems are a real pain to bleed if you get the level too low and cause them to ingest some air. Get it as low as you can with the engine off, top it up, then run it for a minute and repeat.

I've got an oil pump for gear lube. Should I suck it out of the reservoir as much as possible or is there a certain stopping point?

I use my Mity-Vac hand pump to remove as much as I can. By putting the end of the suction tubing all the way to the bottom of the reservoir, I can usually remove about 15 ounces of fluid. Then I just refill the unit to the original level.

If you have time to putz around, you can also put the removed fluid into a clear jar and mark its level. The dispose of the old stuff, clean the jar a bit, and then add new fluid until you reach the mark. Then you know you are putting the same amount you removed back in.
