Pin size hole in muffler

I was looking under the truck last night and noticed a pin size hole on the back of the muffler. It had some soot around it also. It this normal or is dealer getting me a new muffler??

Steve,

Normal my 04.5 has it also, A buddy of mine does custom exhaust work for a living and they add a hole to muff (at the lowest rear point) that do not come with them from the factory. The idea is to drain moisture from the muff in an attempt to give longer life (less rust).

Enjoy
Allen

I noticed the same thing when I had a HEMI. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the muffler. Doesn't seem right having a hole in it

Ghezz.Mufflers have had drain holes in them for DECADES.Other wise they rot from mositure and caustic reactions.

Might be a good dealer to stay away from. Unless, its one of those "the customer is always right, no matter what" kind of dealers; THEN it might be worth staying with.

That little hole is designed to be there.

And the dealer turned the new muffler over so you wouldn't see the hole...

Condensation drain. Always has been there. Always will.
