My 06' does not have homelink (garage door opener) in the overhead console. I found a console on ebay out of an 06' that has homelink in it. Does anyone know if they are a direct swap? Is the wiring harness already ran to the overhead console so that you can just plug it in? Or will I have to run additional wires for the homelink to work on my new console? Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I "THINK" that the Homelink units are just standalone units mounted in the OH. They get juice from the power wire but that's it. As far as I know it should just connect right up with no problem. I may find out soon....

Just as an FYI - I have an '06 as well and I bought an overhead with homelink from an '05 (I think) off of ebay at least a year ago (no '06s were available). Anyway, everything hooked up without a problem, but my truck electronics got really funky. The stereo disc changer started cycling and wouldn't stop, and the truck would not start (no crank). I panicked at first, but I just switched eveything back to stock and thankfully everything went back to normal.

I seem to remember another DTR member who made the switch, but used the same model year components, and it worked fine for him. I would do a search to see if you can find his writeup. I emailed him with questions and he was helpful.

The console is now sitting in my garage packed away somewhere, so when I find it I may try to but my overhead module in the '05 console and see if it will work. If I remember correctly, and as Dodgezilla mentioned, I think they are all separate modules. Can't hurt to at least try.

If that doesn't work I may try and find a Dodge Tech to see if they can and do reprogramming of the module. I also seem to remember reading in the service manual that programming was necessary when the overhead is replaced/serviced.

Dodge changed a lot of electrical stuff for the 06 model year. I had bought an 03-05 MOPAR DVD player for my 07 and all the connections hooked up perfectly but some of the wires within those connections were now in different positions so it wouldn't do squat.
Does anyone know if the OH readings are done within the OH or in the computer and the OH just displays it? Mine is pretty accurate and I don't want to swap out only to find that it is now way off. (Not that it really matters)

I drilled a hole in the middle of my overhead console and put a black button from Radio Smack in it. I buried my opener up in the overhead too, but you can run the wires down to the dash and solder the button connections to the back of your opener. Zip tie it under the dash or something maybe. This is the second truck I've done this mod to now. Works great.

My opener is 9v, so I get a couple years I have to swap batteries, but if you're opener is 12v, you can tap into the lights up there and never have to mess with batteries again. Sup to you....

I did this in my last truck (silverado) which I just traded in for my 05 2500.
