From: Southern California-for now.
I just wanted to pass along an expierience I had with a spring company.
Some time back, around Nov of last year I think, I called Betts Trucking in Santa Fe Springs, CA. and inquired about the cost of a set of one-ton leaf springs for my first gen 3/4 ton. I figured they were tired, what with 125,000 miles on them, plus I wanted the extra capacity of the one-tons. Anyhow, I was given an estimate of $480 or so. All my other estimates were $750 or more. I called again in April to make sure the price hadn't gone up too much, and it hadn't, the estimate was still around $480.
I set up an appointment to have my rear leaf springs replaced while I waited. They told me it could take as long as four hours, but being an hour drive one way to get there, I didn't mind.
So, when they finished, the bill I received was for a few dollars less than $900. I told them I was told it would be about $500. The shop foreman said "No, not on a Dodge". Well, I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere by raising a fuss, so I wrote the check and left.
When I got home, I immediately emailed the main office of Betts Trucking and explained what happened. To my surprise, after a couple more emails back and forth, they sent me a check for $450.
Check 'em out.
