old blow by tube relocation tips

I see where MoparMan1973 relocated his blow by tube with PVC and upward tubing. However, he has the crankcase in front of the engine where mine is still in the rear on the side (drivers side). What are my options that someone has done (pics would be great) to avoid oil stains on the driveway and coating the rest of the underneath of the truck. I like the "no bottle" solution of MoparMan, just don't know if something similar can be done with my engine design. Thanks for the help.

You're breather doesn't come off the timing case cover? I have a 99 and my breather tube comes of the timing case cover..

I had an old 99 that i put an 01 motor in and it had it on the side as well

The 01 motor had it on the side

Does anyone see a problem with running an PVC extension to the original tube ALONG the underneath of the truck, going up for a few inches then back down to the exit around the transmission area?

Not sure if going UP will affect anything....thanks.

You should make sure that if you're running the extension under the truck, that it always goes downhill. You could get puddling in any low spot that could block the vent. I would also make the run as short as possible, the vent is supposed to be to atmosphere, so any extra length could cause back pressure.

I would worry about oil pooling in a joint and blocking the free flow of air. If this is blocked, you could over pressurize your crankcase and it may explode.

What I did is use 3/4" heater hose and extend my puke bottle near the bottom of the truck. I found a place to secure it and it make for easy cleaning. If you do this route, make sure the line will not by in the way of the fan. I zip-tied mine in many places to ensure this would not move.

Some say heater hose will be destoyed by the oil and shoud use diesel fuel. If my heater hose fails, I will replace it with fuel line.

After you relocate your puke bottle, you will want to clean your engine and surrounding parts to remove the crap the puke bottle was coating your truck with.

The best thing is it took me about 10 minutes and about 5 bucks at pep boys.

NAPA sells an all purpose hose that's not affected by oil. When heater hose is effected, it can close up.

go to perf/mod 1st and 2nd gen and look at quite possibly the best modification ever by forrest nearing.......a ton of info

Are the "puke bottles" only on 4X4's?

I don't have one on my 98.5, just a hose going down to the level of the block/pan area.

no ther not just on the 4x4s it goes buy years my dads 99 doesnt have 1 either and it is a 4x4 but bros late 2000 does have 1 my 01 has 1 and bros 02 has 1 as well so im shure that the late 98s and 99s are the only 1s without the puke bottle but i dont think your act missing out on anything

The engine won't explode, however it not able to vent the gases can cause some of the seals to get blown out.

Maybe explode was not the perfect wording perhaps exploding gaskets and engine seals would be better

Picked up two feet of 3/4" hose(the good kind-impervious to oil)today and will move the puke bottle down to the outside of the frame below the windshield washer fluid container. Should be a simple procedure that will make it a lot easier to service it. It's all downhill as everyone is recommending and will retain the bottle so that I don't leave oil spots everywhere. Thanks to everyone on the board.

Since mine doesn't have a puke bottle, anyone have a picture of their setup (remember, my tube runs from the side of the engine). That way I can see where it mounts, where it drains, etc.......thanks for all the help everyone.
