NV4500 input shaft part# needed
I have a gone thru two Standard Transmission NV4500's. The last one I put in was 1-1-09. The input shaft gears broke on both of them. I believe it is my fault because the way I am shifting or not shifting soon enough and lugging it. Since it is prime hunting season here in Alaska I was thinking of just flushing the tranny and sticking a new input shaft in it, what do you guys think. I found the two gear peices that broke of in the bottom of tranny. If I do flush it what do I flush it with? Solvent? gas? I also need the part number for the shaft or is it multi part numbers.

For what you are doing, I would seriously look at upgrading to the ISK1.375 SBC input shaft. Much more meat were needed and very tough to break.
Downside would be you will have to upgrade the clutch at the same time to the nv5600 6sp clutch, such as the 1947-ofe and either have your flywheel turned and drilled for the 13" clutch or buy the 1947-ofek that comes with the 13" flyheel too.
