I need to vent!!!!!!

Tonight the wife and I went out to dinner and on the way home we were sitting at a red light. We were the second car back from the light. When the light turned green the guy in front of me put his car in reverse. Then he floored it and drove the 25 or so feet backwards right into the front of my truck. I was blowing the horn and standing on the brakes so he would not push me back into another car. After the impact I jumped out of my truck and ran up to the car to find out what kinda stupid #$%$#%@#@##$ was driving the car. It was a young kid driving and crying his eyes out. His dad jumped out of the passenger side and was begging me to calm down. I could not belive someone could be so **** stupid. the kid only had a permit and did not even have a license I guess the dad is not a good teacher. I asked how did this happed and the dad said he had it in park cause the light was red and when it turned green the kid put it in reverse and floored it. So now I need a new bumper and left side bumper bracket. It pushed the bumper into the fender a little bit but not too bad. It definately could have been worse, and at least no one was hurt. Park cause the light was red what a idiot!!!!!!!! so where is the best place for a new bumper I need the one with the plastic covers. The covers are all ok he kinda went under the plastic and just hit the chrome part. Thanks for listening to my rant.

Like you said, it could have been much worse. Driver education is not this fathers first line of expertise. Maybe the father does this also and considers it normal and prudent for safety. I mean if he got bumped and acidentlly floored it, nothing would happen--------- till he hit reverse.

Wow. The only time I will put any of my vehicles in park while on the road is if I am at a railroad crossing and I know its going to be awhile. I think you have a right to be upset, this is the first time I have heard of something like this happening. Poor kid is going to be afraid to drive now but at least he will learn to be very careful to what gear the vehicle is in.

Man, I feel your pain.

That said, just be thankful that "dad" is teaching junior absolutely everything that he knows about driving.

Try LMC truck for another bumper and associated pieces, they seem to have a decent selection of parts for most north american stuff.

He is paying to fix it That is for sure. I called dodge today and they said the bumper was no longer available. I am not too concerned with the dent in the fender because I am going to paint the whole truck this winter But the bumper looks like horrible right now. I was maybe even thinking about building a custom bumper out of stainless.

I'd say build the custom heavier duty one.
The stock ones aren't too sturdy IMHO.

It seems like any truck that you buy from that nut head in bridgeton seems to be bad luck. The 91 we got from him was wrecked when i got it and its been to two body men and it gets more screwd up every time. Good luck, Brandon

the car was a late model dodge stratus and the guy said wow I only got a little dent in my plastic bumper. Then he opened the trunk and had a hard time getting it closed. plastic springs back and hides alot if damage though.

Bumper here: http://www2.partstrain.com/store/ind...78+10115+11921

Scroll down, it's the second item.

Good luck if the plastic trim is damaged beyond reuse though.
