Need help with VP44 wiring
Well, I posted a couple weeks ago. Truck was throwing a bunch of codes, (P0251, P0252, P0253) I was suspicious that it was a bad connection on the pump tap wire. Finally got time to tear into it and here's what I found. The previous owner, when they tapped the pump wire for the Banks box it had on it, cut the wire about 1/2 inch from the VP and soldered a splice into the wire. Then soldered a pigtail into that to connect to the box. I started pulling electrical tape off to get to it and check with an ohm meter and the connection just pulled apart.
Now I'm wondering if I can just get a new harness with the 2 black wires on the pump? I might be able to solder it, but 1/2" from the VP, I don't know how well that's going to work.
Any ideas?
Here's a picture of what I'm working with...

Do you know how to solder? Not being a smarty, just trying to help out, I've done a bunch of it myself,,,,, I can't answer the question of would it hurt the VP or not from the heat traveling up the wire.
Personally you have nothing to lose trying I'd think,,,, if you need help, I'll pm you and tell you how I do it, fast and easy, but strong.

Yeah, I know how to solder and I'm sure I can get it done if I have to. It's just a matter of not much wire to work with and pretty confined space for my fat, uncoordinated fingers...
I was looking for an easier/better solution. Was really hoping I could just replace the harness, but I sure can't find one and my dealer was closed by the time I found it to ask them.

The T-tap might work, but with as short of a wire as I have, I can barely even fit a needle nose in there to crimp anything on. The connections on the bottom and the pigtail are solid, so all I need to do is tie the wire back together at the top.

Ok, so I can just tie the bottom wire and the wire from my Edge box into the wire on the Stealth cover and tape up the pigtail coming out of the VP? That sounds a lot better to me. I was confused on exactly how the stealth covers tied in. That would probably work better than trying to solder the wire. Thanks
