N-Fab's Installed!!! (poor pix)
Sorry for the camera phone pix, dont have a good digicam of my own yet (keep spending $$$$ on the truck instead
)
Ordered my N-Fab Nerf Steps from a local custom shop....They arrived next-day and they've been sitting here since Wednesday...It was killin me...Put them on today, and here's my impressions:
First off, these things are heavy.....Definitely have more meat to them than other stuff I've looked at....
I must say I'm NOT impressed with N-Fab's powdercoating
I can spraypaint better than this.....But since I fully expect these thing to get beat up by gravel, etc; I figure I'll just have them Rhino'd at some point...Crappy finish problem solved
As far as mounting, no big deal...You do have to drill a total of 12 3/8" holes, but thats nothing a good sharp bit cant handle...Wish I had a step drill though, instead of making a pilot hole then using bigger bits...
These bars do mount to the pinch weld....I know most people arent fans of this....I wasnt either, but I had to sacrifice somewhere....However they have a plate which transfers the torsional load around the pinch weld and into the underbody, spreading the load out.....Dont be fooled, these things are stout....They dont deflect under my weight any more than Mopar cab-mount nerfs do...
The bars came with mounting hardware, which (strangely
) didnt include lock washers...Didnt like that deletion, so I dug some up....
One drawback is the small gap between the body and bars...I've looked at various pics, some seem like the bars are tight against the body, others the bars seem even lower than mine....This (1/2)" makes the mounting bolt heads visible.....That was fixed with a can of Dupli-Color spray-on bedliner....
All in all, these things rock
I am disappointed by the finish, but not worried since their gonna get beat up anyway.....I really like the look, and the best part is NOBODY around here has them.....In fact, its the first set the custom shop has ever sold...I believe I made a good choice
Now all I need is gauges, floormats, seat covers, a Kore suspension, 35's, and something from Quadzilla
Oh yeah, and a digital camera

Step along with my homemade door entry guard...Metal shop skills at work

Merry Christmas to ALL!!!!

well not everyone who climbs in my truck is young, spry, and tall like we are
i had a set of the n-fabs on my ford s.d. ( sorry guys ) about 3 years ago. it was when they first really came out and started advertising in the mags. i had them for a few years and they look cool and are different. mine mounted to the body, not the frame i didnt like that, but they never gave me a problem and i way 275lb. i was gonna get a set for the dodge but just bought a set off ebay. they look like the mopar bars but are 1 piece, no plactic caps on the end.
smittybuilt make predator steps that look real similar for about 1/2 the price. http://www.smittybiltinc.com/step_predator/main.html
