MPG Indicator and Modules

I was wondering if adding a module effects the MPG indicator. I just installed the Granatelli Mileage Miser and my indicator shows the same as before. Just a comment: I'm surprised at how accurate these things are... comparing to my hand calc the indicator is only about 1/2 mpg off/low!

Thanks in advance

Are you taking into consideration that the overhead reads in U.S gallons as opposed to Imperial Gallons like we are accustomed to here in Canada??

Remember that a U.S gallon is approx 3.8 litres, while an imperial gallon is 4.5 litres roughly.

As a rough figure you can take the overhead reading and multiply by 1.184 to get your mileage in Imperial gallons.

kennymac131, have you peeled the sticker off the back of your mileage miser revealing the screw which holds the plastic back case on the unit? have you noticed who actually made it? its printed on the circuit board. buzzman, the granatelli mileage miser it a simple plug in box that has no external adjustments and is just designed to add fuel mileage to the dodge cummins powered trucks. they guarantee a 3mpg gain or your money back. they also promise that its untraceable once removed. it also adds 50hp and 150ftlbs torque. I gained a solid 2mpg with one (hand calculated ) and a little over 1mpg when towing heavy. the box is less that $300 if I remember correctly.

hmmm. If the mileage miser is a rebadged xzt it adds pressure right? So if the module adds pressure the overhead computer should be more off than usual. At least that is how it is in my pickup.

Re-badged and info

Yes I've read that the granatelli unit is a rebadged XZT. Doesn't really bother me. I'm just looking for a little more for towing and more MPG's. And I like the idea of the garanty(sp?)

For more info you can go to GMSdieseilworld.com for granatelli's site and I found them at stylinconcepts.com $317 delivered.

I think Granatelli also has info on the Magnusson-Moss act which is the law regarding aftermarket parts not voiding your warranty. In short, the consumer can add aftermarket parts to their vehicles and it's up to the tech/dealer to determine that it caused the failure.
Be careful though, if that is the case and the tech/dealer really want to be jerks they can probably make life difficult by keeping your vehicle for diagnosis to prove the part caused the failure.
