Month Long Power Problem
1999 3/4 Ton Dodge Ram, 5 speed, 160,000 miles. Runs and starts fine most mornings. Always starts fine. Some starts it doesn't have enough power to pull a hill without going to third gear. Then it may take off and run great the rest of the trip. Next time I start it to go to work, it may run perfect or run like a dog. No smoke no missing, just run perfectly and then the next second not have any power. It will turn 3000 rpm or more if you need it but with no power. I have ordered a lift pump but I am starting to think it may be the wastegate due to very little change for a month. It may be in the "low power" mode maybe a little more time lately. I recently pulled my 27' camper on a short trip and it pulled it fine but it seemed to be a good day. One day we ran to town and it wouldn't pull itself over a mountain in NW AR empty without going to third. Then it instantly "picked up" and ran great the rest of the trip. Any help, please?
