Who's up for breaking out the tools and BOMBs ???
MX684 has graciously donated some space in his dad's heated garage for us to do some tinkering.
Please respond to the interest poll and if applicable ... post what type of work you would like to have done. Probably a good idea if you let us know if this is a project that you may need help with ... maybe someone has already done it and can lend a hand.
If you don't plan on working on your own truck but want to help out &/or learn ... then please post that as well.
MX684 .... please fill us in on any particular rules that we may need to abide by while at your shop. We want to conduct ourselves accordingly so we can be invited back !!
Cheers,
PISTOL

As for me ... I will probably have my tranny bands re-adjusted by then but if not ... I would like to do that.
Hopefully I will still have my work issued toolbox, in case someone needs to borrow some tools, drill, Fluke ... etc .
I will be there to BS, lend a hand & hopefully learn a thing or two as well.
Cheers,

Nothing specific really....we have a stereo, ping-pong table...a few chairs....so ya'll might just wanna throw in a couple lawn chairs, any "specialty tools" that you might need. (we have alot of the basics, wrenches, sockets, grinders, welder, etc.) and perhaps coolers with whatever beverages you might want....if anyone has any other questions or anything feel free to ask....its located about 6 miles southwest of nixa...(which is the next town just south of springfield, (bass pro)

I just ordered the rest of my parts for my on board air. Don't really need help but don't really want to work out in the cold. :).
I wouldn't mind checking my timing if anybody has the tools. Most of my wrenching experience is 24v stuff, still learning about the undervalved stuff.

lurch, im not sure what tools are required to check timing, but anyone that finds out what they need can ask and see if i have if, and if you all have stuff you wanna do but dont want help, just the heat, thats perfectly fine, im just all about the socializing, and if someone needs help with anything, ill do whatever i can.

I'll try and make it. My only un-installed mod is my nitrous set-up and I've been leaving that off on purpose since I haven't installed the oringed head with the studs yet.[laugh] But I'd be glad to help. And I'll try and convince a Kingdom City guy to show up that knows a little about timing and tabbing the KDP on the 12 valves.

well as far as the date, it hasnt been set yet.....im pretty open for whenever, so i suggested to pistol that we mention it to everyone and see if there was interest, and if so those that would like to come could help decide the date for what would work best for them, that was the plan anyways....
its located about 6miles southwest of nixa. which is the next town south of springfield...so say from bass pro, you would be looking at roughly another 20 miles or so?/ give or take...i had thought if we do it that i could meet up with everyone at an easy to find location or something, bass pro, a walmart, etc, then everyone could just follow me out..??? lets hear your opinions...

what you need a boost fooler for??/ i thought you had a comp box on there
mcoleman
11-21-2007, 02:47 PM
You won't need a boost fooler with the Edge comp but you will need an boost elbow for the turbo to raise your boost. They sell new for around $15.00 but you should be able to find someone with a used one. I'll check some of my boxes and see if I have any laying around.

First of the year is better for me. I'm a bit busy until then and will be heading home at some point around the 2nd week of december if things go as planned so I will not be around much for the holidays and after this past weekend, I'm sure the state of Missouri and all the married men it it will be happier for that....[duhhh] All I will say is I didn't know but ducking and weaving while running to my truck is not fun.... Hey guys the shop is nice. We could put 3 trucks in it if they're not to tall and maybe wide. January would be the time to do a meet though. Oh I forgot to mention the shop is out side of town not real close to any neighbors and potato's as far as I know haven't been outlawed. Oh it's on a paved road so smokeing might be allowed.

Went back to the house for a bit to top off the generator. Wife and kids are still complaining it's too cold in the house. So I ripped the propane infrared vent-free gas unit off the wall and brought it down to the house. It's now sitting on a bar stool in my kitchen running off of a BBQ grill propane tank.

In all seriousness I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to contact Co-Mo and Ameran to see about helping out. Not sure what they'd pay and if you'd have to be "special certified" to help them.
This pretty much sums it up...

Pistol we had a little ice on the trees but nothing major. It was 48 degrees this morning when I got up. [laugh] I heat with wood and cook with gas and the horses have a pond and there is a nice spring across the road so doing without electricity doesn't affect us as bad as the folks in town. We're alive... I'm at work and we just got power back here at the plant. Most areas are still dark. Those that still had power last night find themselves in the dark this morning. About 11:30 p.m. or so everybody went down. I'm still running 759023753 watts of stuff on a 2cycle 1,000 watt generator at the house. My heater setup is still workin through and last night we had it 65 in the house. Yesterday we had power for all of 3 min and it was long enough to start filling a bathtub and flush the toilets. No house damage (knock on wood), limbs down everywhere in the yard though. But we're doin' ok so far. Tonight sounds like it might get ugly again. It's above freezing and raining right now which is helping to melt some of it off. Thanks for the thoughts guys, so far me and the family are doin' fine. The Dodge is all kinds of hacked off though.... he's sitting outside and isn't liking it.

My boss called me this morning while I was warming up the truck and told me not to come in. A while later I got a call from another employee from another department and his boss told him to come in. I don't think the storm hit the KC area as bad as it was first thought. But it's not over yet. It is supposed to rain all day and fall below freezing later this afternoon and possibly turn into snow.

The miss' doesn't have a problem with normal maintenance just not into the mods. Of course if I can upgrade during normal maintenance. Then it's like you can always make it last longer by doing this so it's worth it. Actually it's not her it's the money. My shop isn't exactly a place I'd start building micro-processors in. I've got a tractor and a Mitsubishi 3000 GT in there. I need about a week to get the clutch in the tractor and clean it up (sort of why I took my truck someplace else).
I could do this Sat or Sun if you wanted. I've never done one before, but those instructions seem pretty easy to follow. Don't see anything I'd be scared of.

Is a head gasket job too much for a wrench day? My truck has been leaking a small amount of coolant for a while now but it started leaking more(about a gallon every 2 or 3 days). It is leaking just under the thermostat housing. I installed a new thermostat and new rubber seals yesterday but it did not fix the leak. Can anyone tell me how much of job this is? I have done some minor engine work on gas engines but not much on diesels. I'm afraid I will probably be sending this one out for repaiers.

Original gasket? I see you got a plate, anything else? If you're running timing and boost you may want to consider o-rings. If the plate is all you're doing (and stock timing or less than 16 degrees) then it's not too bad to replace.
A cherry picker helps in lieu of friends crawling up into the engine bay. Pull the rocker boxes, remove rockers and blocks and pull then push rods. Remove intake horn and unhook heater grids, disconnect exhaust down pipe and IC pipe to turbo and pull the bolt holding the alternator bracket to the head. Unhook pyro, temp gauge sensor, oil line for turbo, boost gauge, NOS, water/meth, etc... Pull all the injectors, return and supply injection lines, remove bolts holding the fuel filter canister to the top of the intake and then head bolts and POP goes the head.
...I've done it a couple of times...re-assemble reverse of removal.

I don't know what I'm going to do with my head gasket yet. Are there any special tools needed to do the job? I would also like to change the timeing case gasket it had a chunk of gasket fall out and is sealed with some silicone now.
So far the truck is all stock except for the #10 plate. To be honest any money that could have gone towards any upgrades will be eaten up by this repaier. I stopped by a local diesel shop the other day and asked for an estamate. They printed off an estamate of almost $1200 I would say they have severly hiked there parts since I saw an oil filter listed for $31 and it looked like they were going to get the gaskets from napa?

Oh yeah I didnt know they were that bad. They always win ya know.
And if your talkin about Bailies my experience has been less than satisfactory one might say. I just didnt have another shop option and atleast I know they have a winning sled puller so I kept tryin to give them the benifit of the doubt. Not worth the energy. I shouldve pput it on a trailer and sent it to John in Lawrence, Ks.

I got johns number but it sounds as if he may be too busy right now. I ma try to give him a call anyways. Has anyone herd if they are any good over at midwest diesel in oak grove? I know it seems like they deal more with the powerstrocks and duramakes but I have seen a few dodges running around town with there stickers on the trucks. I still may try to bite the bullet and do it my self. I think between me and my cousin we may be able to stumble throughe it.
