My brother just got a offer to buy his truck so he is looking for a first or second gen, quad cab, perferably a long bed, must be a MANUAL (no auto, he is hard on those[duhhh]) transmission, 4X4. If you know of anyone that is selling one please let me know so I can pass it on to him. The buyer is very, very motivated to purchase his truck, actually offered him about 5k over what he paid for it, so he said the only way he is selling it is if he finds a CTD that fits these requirements.

anyone interested in a set of 4 33x12.50 tires mounted on 16.5" chrome rims? The rims retail for $379 a piece and the tires have about 3k miles on them. Its the rim and tire combo that came with my truck but it was replaced with hummer rims and BFG'S. PM me with an email if youre interested. Figure i would offer them to you guys before i put them on the site.

hey what i all nedd to put my gauges in this Sat (wires,connectors,fittings..etc)
what gauges are you putting in? what company? digital or mechanical? if you are putting in
-EGT probe you need a drill and a GOOD tap set for the exhaust manifold
-for fuel pressure i used a banjo bolt off the fuel return from the VP44
-tranny temp/pressure runs off of test ports on the passenger side of the tranny, 1/4 pipe threads i believe. (unless you run one in a line coolant line)
- for boost, i run mine off a fuse, but if yours is mechanical, you will need to drill and tap your intake horn. BUT MAKE SURE YOU TAKE IT OFF!! you dont want metal shavings in your engine. The exhaust manifold really doesnt need to be taken off if you are careful, but the air horn should be taken off IMO to ensure NO accidents
and this is assuming you have all piping and fitting that came with the gauges and assuming they all fit where they are supposed to

Have all that in the Cave, We've done lots of them!
-for fuel pressure i used a banjo bolt off the fuel return from the VP44
-tranny temp/pressure runs off of test ports on the passenger side of the tranny, 1/4 pipe threads i believe. (unless you run one in a line coolant line)
Bad idea, you should read off the trans cooler line straight out of the trans, reading at the test ports gives you inaccurate readings(only reading in that gear, 1st gear port, 2nd gear port you get the idea.
- for boost, i run mine off a fuse, but if yours is mechanical, you will need to drill and tap your intake horn. BUT MAKE SURE YOU TAKE IT OFF!! you dont want metal shavings in your engine.
Just use a Boost Bolt, i have an extra in the Cave
The exhaust manifold really doesnt need to be taken off if you are careful, but the air horn should be taken off IMO to ensure NO accidents
and this is assuming you have all piping and fitting that came with the gauges and assuming they all fit where they are supposed to
Boots are they new gauges or used, what fittings do you have?

Who ever is helping Boots just let me know and I'll bring it over. I usually drill with a T drill and tap 2/3rds the depth of the tap. I love taco dip with Frito's, what a week for the septic pipes to go?

Nothing spectacular.
Brad you can bring your truck and we will just drop the t case right on your trailer. that way if you need parts you can still get the truck home.
Todd you can bring your camper but bring it Sat, i don't know exactly what's going on Friday night. Don't want to push my luck with the Boss.

Well scott, even if it snot an all out party, you are letting us all come work on the trucks and hang out for the fire, everyone can bring a little something to share for dinner, and not make it an all out party. as long as your grill is there i can bring some hot dogs or hamburgers and rolls, and some barley pops...if thats ok with you.
This way the boss doesnt have to cook or clean anything up?

LOL Biodiesel. Fun Stuff
I think the price is $2.50
getblown5.9
11-01-2007, 11:34 PM
at the current rates of $2.50/gallon to $3.25/gallon, I'd only have to burn 13,333 gallons of bio or $33,332 worth of bio in order to save myself the $10k it will cost me for a new motor

Cool with the kids and all. Krysten can keep the girls happy in the camper while the rest of us play with fire. Have to bring the wife, she's my designated driver for the ride home....
So everybody bring sumthin'. Make it easy so we just burn all the trash, and there won't be any cleanup, just men playing with fire as El Presidente wishes.

Need help deciding on a possible programmer for Christmas. Looking at Diablo. Since I still have a stock tranny and injectors, I am looking for one that won't destroy anything.
I'm basically looking for something to give me a little more umph and better fuel mileage, also to clear codes and reprogram my computer for the tire size.
Looking forward to the next wrenchin day now that the knee is almost 80% healthy.

Talk to Leonard, although his was a bit smoky blowing by this morning as I was pulled over outside the tunnel. Some dip rearended me inside the tunnel. Thank goodness I had the hitch there, no damage to my truck, but his poor van was a mess. To all those nay sayers that say the anti-lock brakes don't work well...my front end is fine, but my hitch has a few spots of black paint now.

PS- if i could sell my jeep, i would but that 1st gen in a heartbeat to start on a pulling truck. I've always liked 2nd gens and wanted a second gen to make into a real puller, but after see the videos on this site http://www.moonlightdiesel.com/index.php?option=com_expose&Itemid=32

well finally got the gauges in all i need now i just get the trans temp connected up
Im a new member of the chapter with my first question for the Local guys...My truck is coming up on 15K miles and the manual suggests changing out the front and rear diff. fluids. In your opinions, is this needed yet and is it something I can do in my driveway? I can and have done all my regular maintenance but I have never attempted this and the dealership wants my first born to do it. Like I asked before, is it really needed yet and is it a simple task? I just wanted to get the local guys opinion on it.
Yes, it is really something you should do. Do you tow much? I have 14,500 on mine, I am gearing up (pun intended) to do mine also. From what I have heard, some guys are surprised how nasty the rear is, the front should be pretty much golden, unless you do an awful lot of 4WD driving.
I am going to do both, just for good measure. It is a re-usable gasket. Getting both surfaces really clean will be a wise thing so you don't have any little leaks.
75-90w GL-5 rated synthetic fluid. The bolts get torqued to around 26 ft. lbs. From what I read, the spec is 30 but people have been snapping them at 30. The rule with diffs and trans pan bolts is "Tight is good, too tight is broken".
Drain plug is supposed to be 32 ft. lbs.
4 quarts in the rear, 3.75 in the front.
Where are you located?
Oh, I got rambling there, YES it is something you can do, if you change oil, you can certainly change these diff fluids.

Travis, its good to see the truck back together. Still amazed and more so some what. I mean I have seen some poles thrash vehicles and now yours looks great in the pictures. I know they have finishing touches but good to see they have talent.

Thanks P.J. I do tow alot and guess that I will be doing this shortly. Since I'll be doing more of the maintenance on this truck, I guess I have to spend some $$ on torque wrenches and such(my tools are limited).
I'm located in Parkville.
I just got the cheesy tang (whatever it's called?) Craftsman one. Considering it is one of the least used tools in the box, I didn't see the sense in spending a whole lot of money on one.
Mmm, Parkville. You are REAL close to the hot spot for Cummins enthusiast. If you keep an eye on the threads in the MDDTR section at some point Scot will have a Wrench'n Day at his place.
Either that or let me know and you are welcome to stop by my place, like I said I will be looking to do mine here in the next few weeks anyway (along with oil change, fuel filter, some other stuff).
I know I'm prolly making too much of an issue out of something thats really simple to do, but once I see something done I'm good to go. If you dont mind, give me a heads up when you do yours and if I'm free I'd like to come up and watch.

wierd thing is when i put my 35's on i was actually driving faster than my speedometer was reading no the opposite. it could be the sensor has gone up. have some one drive next to you and check the speed or a gps. if your coming down scotts this saturday he has a gps unit thats how i was able to tell how far off mine was.

Hey Keith you and Leonard could truck pool.[coffee]
Hey Sunir we can knock out your mods this weekend if you like. Friday or Saturday are good for me. Remember Coors light and or either gas for the gen or diesel for the heater.
Thanks Scott...unfortunately doesn't look like I'll have the truck back...it's at the body shop right now awaiting a new front windshield which was damaged from a large rock...I could have had it done through a glass delivery service but my insurance folks are using a vendor for the original factory glass which is on backorder and I wanted to have a body shop I've dealt with before make sure it's done right...
I will be taking ya up on the mods offer soon...rest assured barley pops around on me bro! :)

Leonard, can we take care of the computer with a programmer instead of the p.o.s. dealer?
skynyrd
11-21-2007, 11:06 AM
yeah a smarty will change it but when you unload the smarty it will take the changes with it. there are a couple other programmers that are the same but are the same way with removing the change when removed from the system.

Quick question for you all: I had my computer RPM set to 601 due to the 35" tires I put on. I think my speedometer is off. At roughly 1500rpm's my speedo is reading 70mph, around 1800rpms, its reading 80mph....is this correct?

I also have gps on my laptop, I will bring it with me to the cave, might be a little easier than scotts, not sure though.

Hey fellers what's going on? Scott told to drop by the never ending thread. I just joined the chapter - looking forward to meeting you and seeing your trucks.
If possible I might hit you guys up for some advise on putting in my #10 plate, tuning, etc... Although I need to get my EGT gauge problem fixed first. I will probably install my new thermocouple this weekend. Hopefully that fixes my sporadic/intermittent readings.
Anyway, have a good turkey day.

Anyone who is planning to use the lift needs to bring some gas for Glenn's generator.
Remember i only have one bay open to use. So we'll getem in and out quickly.
Anyone got some thick sheet metal laying around? need some for the Jeep fenders i'm workin on.
I'm thinking about just doing my stuff here, fuel is just so ridiculous at this point. I've honesty used the truck twice in three weeks at this point, for a total of about 12 miles. She is sitting on empty and I'm dreading that fill up.
I may just lay on the cold concrete and do my diff fluids in the garage here, sucks but it makes more sense I suppose. I'm switching over to Rotella "Synthetic" for this (motor) oil change too.
