Loud vibration in dash
Ha Fellas,
First time poster, Long time reader. Heres my problem, got a little chilly today so when i went to turn my defrost on high i thought the truck was gonna blow up. When i have the fan on the highest setting i get a loud vibration from what seems to be more on the passengers side. Its really loud and i can feel it while sitting in my seat. Seems like maybe the blower is bad. It still blows air but something isn't right. Any help would be greatly appreciate. I also wanted to thank all the guys and gals on here. I have learned a lot of information from this site.
Its an 06 CTD with lots of extras but I'm not quite sure how to get my sig at the bottom of the page.

You got a broken HVAC door. Pull the three bolts holding the fan under the passenger side dash. There will be a broken piece of plastic in there, take it out and put the fan back in. Now, your gonna have your fan back in and working, but your no longer gonna be able to switch between recirc and outside air(most times). You can Search for a topic by DTR member ratlratl about broken HVAC door. He does a nice write up somewhere on how to fix this defective part.
Here it is I think. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...s-t170393.html

So i pulled the fan and sure enough there was a broken piece of plastic in there. I also was able to reach up there and pull the door out. What purpose is that door for? Does it need to be replaced or will everything work ok? I started the truck and ran the defrost and vents and it seemed to blow and work much better then before. Thanks again for the help guys. It would be great not to have to pull the dash apart.

I broke mine two years ago and haven't fixed it yet. But either your stuck on recirc or outside air only. I'm not sure which when you have no door in there. Basically, you want recirculate for AC in really hot weather to get the cab as cold a possible, but you want fresh air at times too to reduce humidity and odor.

Because its broken is the only reason it came out. To repair it, you have to buy the new unit anyways that has a modified tougher door built in. Dodge doesn't sell the defective replacement.
