loud sound

I have a 1991 and every thing runs and shifts fine, but when you let off the gas and then get back on it, it sounds like someone hit the bottom of the cab with a hammer. Anyone know what could be wrong.

Start checking tranny and engine mounts. Then move on to driveline and suspension stuff.

Sounds like the universals are ready to come apart. Check your rear drive shaft, better yet, just replace them. Thats how mine acted right before my drive shaft hit the pavement

Yep check U-joints. Or could be a sloppy rear end or transfer case. Jack it up and rotate tires and drivelines and check the play

If it is extended cab it could be the carrier bearing on the rear drive shaft also.
