Lost the muffler (no not on purpose)

So, I'm runnin' down the road yesterday, hit a quary sized pothole, fly into the roof of my truck, come back down to the seat, to hear this really annoying drone coming from my truck. Yup, you guessed it, the jolt set the back plate of the muffler loose (truck only has 30k miles...upstate winters are brutal).

So I'm looking for a muffler and tailpipe (both rotted), apparently the only place my parts guys can get one is from the dealership at almost the same cost as a s.s. cat back system. Anybody have some input on a quiet aftermarket muffler (not that there is much difference between my truck running muffler and straight piped, except the drone). Thanks in advance

Ohh and mods... If I posted in the wrong forum feel free to move me around

You could go the cheap way and try "mass tuning".

Basically, if you change the mass of an object, you will change its harmonic/resonant frequency. The object in this case being the exhaust pipe.

You could straight pipe it, and if it drones, get some angle iron. Use the angle iron to "change the mass". You are adding more wieght and changing its properties. Experiment with sections of angle iron and some hose clamps until you figure out what works. Then you could either clamp it or weld it in place.
