Thumbs up Just did 5600 miles in under 2 weeks

When I left Indiana on the afternoon of Thursday 11/11 I had 3600 miles on the odomter. Tonight (11/23) I have 9100. Yep, 5600 miles in just under 2 weeks. I know for hot shotters that's normal/nothing, but every place I went was actually a destination that I spent time in. Almost all the miles were towing and/or hauling. I found that my mileage has been improving significantly, as has my power. Towing long trips really is good for this engine. It loves it and it is so amazingly competent. My friends at home who hadn't seen the truck yet loved it. Even my mom loved it (she hated my old truck).

The truck performed flawlessly without a hiccup. I changed the oil, but other than that it's kept on running without complaining. The only problem is that the wheel is off-center and is looser than it was from the factory. I'm going to take it to the dealer after Thanksgiving to have them do something about it.

The more I drive this thing, the more I love it! I guess my estimation to the insurance company of 20,000 miles a year was a bit off since I've already done almost half that in under 3 months of ownership...

Good to hear. How significant an mpg increase are you seeing with all the towing and hauling?

Well, before with the cruise control set at 70 mph empty I was seeing 17.1 - 17.5 mpg. Today I was seeing 17.6 mpg with traffic varying between 65 and 80 mph (mostly around 72 mph) with my empty trailer attached. These numbers are all indicated. I will also add that the overhead has become more accurate after this towing and hauling. It used to read 1 mpg high, and now it's about 0.3 mpg high.

Tonight after detaching the trailer and unloading all the stuff from my truck I went to the grocery store. Did a peel out through 4th gear. I love this truck!

I will also note that on the way there was a guy with a Duramax who was scoffing at me at a gas station. Going out I started in 2nd and floored it. Did a powerslide (with trailer attached) through 3rd gear. His jaw dropped and he stopped scoffing.
