Question Installing Cruise Control

Hey guys, my 89 D250 is bare bones stock, does not have cruise control. Can you tell me if there is an aftermarket brand that is decent quality, and how difficult would it be to install?

Thanks!

Before I got the truck, the PO(my wife's father) had this unit installed about 8 years ago:
Global Cruise Control- electric
It seems to work fairly well. It does not disengage when you press the clutch, but does work with the brakes. I did look in the instructions, and there is what looked to be an easy way to connect the clutch, but I have not done it yet.

Thanks for the info

Do you know if yours is the electric or vacuum?

Is one better than the other?

Any idea on how difficult they are to install?

Thanks!

Mine is the electric. The thought being that they did not want to worry about tapping into the vacuum system. I think the vacuum cruise systems would be fine, but rely on a second system (vacuum) to operate. The electric is an all in one kind of setup. However, presumably one day that servo may die. However, mine has seen some abuse and seems to be holding up just fine.

Looking through the install directions, it does not look to hard to install since we have electric speedometers systems. If it was still a cable driven speedometer, there would be an added level of difficulty, but it still does not look too bad since they include a VSS for such a situation.
