from 03 to 05 what changes if any were made in the hy35 turbos? thanks for the help!!

 

03 and early 04 had smaller compressor housings and not nearly as reliable at higher pressures

04.5 and up - larger compressor and electronic wastegate

 

with some fab work could you change the wastegate and use it on an 03?

 

You don't have to do ANY fab work. Simply run a line from your manifold to your wastegate with a bleeder "boost elbow" inline. The electronic wastegate can be removed and the hole plugged, or left sticking off the compressor, up to you. Hope ya understand..

How much higher pressure is the 325/600 safe and efficient to? I think the 305/555 turbo has a 9cm2 turbine. Is the 325/600 turbine any bigger? Craig

 

Hold the phone here fellas! 03-04 has the hy35 right? 04.5-06 uses a different holset turbo doesn't it? Someone should straighten this out before bad info gets a guy in trouble.

 

I just looked at the Holset website www.holset.co.uk/files/2_2-applications.php# and the two turbochargers appear to be different, however..... Holset lists a HE341 for the 03-04 "The Cummins engine is one of the first applications of the new Holset HE341 turbocharger and the achievement of the groundbreaking standards, which this new engine represents, is a result of close development programme between Cummins, DaimlerChrysler and Holset.". They list a HE351 for the 04.5-up "The 5.9 litre Cummins 600 OHV Inline 6 cylinder is fitted with the Holset HE351 turbocharger which allows the engine to deliver more power and more torque than its MY03 predecessor despite having the same turbocharger envelope size. This is the first Holset turbocharger to utilise the compressor cover mounted ‘Command Valve' wastegate technology." Both cut and pasted from the Holset website. I suspect that the difference is the wastegate as it appears the housings are the same. The ATS 2 piece pulse exhaust manifold is the same for 03 - 06 Dodge CTD. Any other information.

Wldman32, you might try giving High Tech Turbo www.htturbo.com/ a call. I have hear that they are very helpful and they do handle Holset turbos and perform mods to them. For a few centavos for the call it may be the best money you spend in your search for the right setup. Good luck!!!!
