Highest load rated 17" tires?

My 245/70/17s are 3000# per tire at 80PSI. I know they make 265/70/17s that are rated for 3042# @ 80PSI. Is there anything higher than this in the 17"?

I was noticing how in 16" you can get tires rated at almost 3500# per tire! This awkward size we 3rd gens have is a bit limiting.

I think the problem is that 17" tires aren't too popular...manufacturers just won't build a wide variety of them.

I would like to see some more, because I will have a truck camper on my 03 in a few months.

OOH. Forget 17's. How about 19.5" tires and rims... Load range F and G!

My factory tires are rated at 3195 lbs, Load Range E @ 80psi.

If I wanted to replace them who sells them? The local places I"ve checked only have the C's in their books, and tirerack doesn't have my tires on their site either. Does Dodge have a special thing going with BFG?

Unless other auto manufacturers come out with a 17" wheel this is going to be a problem for a long time.

Re:Highest load rated 17" tires?

After all the frustration of trying to find "real snow tires"for this truck I decided to just wear these out and then shell out the mucho dough (about $3500.00) and put some rickson 19.5's and real truck tires on the babey, should be about this time next year if not sooner. Should be much stronger tires with a great selection to choose from and wear a lot better to boot. If I would have known about the lack of tires I probably would have gone with the single wheel rear or to a class 6 or 7 truck to begin with

I dunno about your comment on lousy snow tires, but my factory BFG's were great last year in 21" of snow.

The only thing frustrating was that a couple of times I could only go as far as the idiot(s) who were stuck in my way. I ended up pulling them out of the way so the plows could fight their way through.

I gotta agree with you Thom, in my personal experience, DRW's are lousy in the deep stuff. Even your beloved Ricksons won't help a 2WD all that much in the deep stuff.

My truck shines in the white stuff!

I'm not sure why Rickson's should cost so much.

5 x $250 wheels = $1250
5 x $37 mounting/balancing = $185
Then depending on how you go on the tires...

I'm going to go with the cheapie Kumho's @ $137 each = $685

$2120...

Shipping is like $160. I live close enough to pick them up, but then I'd have to pay like $130 in taxes.... I think I'll take the shipping. My poor UPS driver hates me already lugging Delvac to me all the time!!! (or maybe he just hates me because I work for FedEx ha ha!)

Still a lot of money but, hopefully I can sell my stock wheels and spare for $500 bucks or so now I'm down to about $1780... a lot, but definitely not $3500. I guess if you get a set of $200 per tires that'll add a whole lot on.

I'm told these tires should last a LONG time. Not sure what that translates to in actuality though haha.

Regardless, when towing a big load it will be a nice thing knowing that the tires are rated for 3640# per.
