high sulfur diesel

I have some hsd that we use in our trackors, will it hurt any thing if I run hsd in my truck? is it any better than lsd or ulsd?
Thanks,
Justin

It shouldnt hurt anything. I know plenty of farmers that run it in their trucks, even those who have newer model diesels. But Im sure what you have is Red Diesel and if you get pulled over and your tank is "dipped" the red color will show up and you can get a nice fat fine.
thats my .02¢
im sure others will chime in

I've heard that the higher sulfur content shortens the life of the more complex and expensive fuel systems found on newer trucks. Not to mention the fuel is not taxed and is illegal for highway use. Other than that i don't know but you might want to pipe up and tell us your doing this for off-road use only before your thread gets locked.

x2... the fuel is fine for non dpf ctd's but getting caught will get you a hefty fine.

I know a guy that has been running it in his truck for the last eight years. He hasn't got caught yet. He might not get dipped, but if he ever has a bad wreck and they see that red diesel fuel, he will get caught.
