Heater Hoses going in firewall - which one has the valve?

A couple years ago I removed the vacumn controlled valve (Think it is called 'Water Control valve') on one of the two hoses going into the cab through the firewall. I was hoping it would fix a problem I have of not having any warm air in the winter to speak of. Well it did not help so I think I have a plugged heater core. My memory has fled on this subject....

If someone can tell me which hose it goes on, or knows who has a pic of the engine compartment (passenger side) so I could look it up, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Valve goes on the passenger side heater hose. I used a Ball water shutoff to shutoff the flow of hot coolant in the summer time. Much cooler AC or if no AC, you don't need the hot coolant flowing in the cab. Forget about the factory vacuum auctuated trash. Pic: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/u...d=6710&width=0

Thanks!!

I really have not in the past had any problem with cold in the summer, just no heat in the winter. I have had the hoses on for the last two years and no difference.

This spring, my AC sprung a leak and lost its coolant - apparently at the expansion valve... My son and I are going to change over to R134a tonight, I thought that while I was at it, I would put the valve back in instead of having it hanging over the blower motor housing. It appears to be working correctly...

Sometime later, when we feel like it, I think we will need to replace the heater core... Just looking at that makes me shiver...

Thanks again, This is what I was looking for... By the looks of your modification - I would agree that it would work better than the little valve Dodge used.

You will have to dump the A/C system again to change the heater core. It is kind of a PITA. All told, mine took about 6 hours.

Wanna, thanks for the heads up. I had read your post about your heater core earlier - and it looks like a huge PIT[edit]. Due to time constraints because I hold a day job some 40 miles away, have some disabilities that really effect what I can accomplish, yada yada etc. so forth... and I don't drive a lot in the winter with this truck.

The upshot is that I would really like to do some things before I tow my mother's trailer to Yellowstone in mid July.

1. install gauges - just figured where I want to put them (no rear window, no need for windshield rear view mirror, need to make bracket to mount gauges to existing mirrorr mount...

2. Do the KDP mod - don't think it has been done yet...

3. 3200 GS

4. Pump Timing, adjustments. Want to adjust to get best towing power/economy

We will see what the next few weeks bring. Looking at ordering the gauges tonight.
