heater grid o-ring

I noticed today that I have some diesel leaking from around the fuel filter, the filter is tight so I'm assuming its the o-ring in the heater grid.

Anyone have to change theirs that could pass on some advice or directions? I figure I may as well change the fuel filter and if the heater grid is in there somewhere change it as well.

Thanks in advance.

Probably not the heater GRID, but probably the FUEL heater. Mines leaking there too... gotta look into that one along with ya!

The heater is probably fine, no need to replace that.

The filter spud has a slot across it. The ideal tool is a 9/16" drag link socket, but those are hard to find. Next best thing is a cold chisel ground to fit, failing that a very stiff putty knife works OK.

Just replaced mine this week. Really a piece of cake. I dropped the throttle cable bracket out of the way and gave myself quite a bit of room to work.

WHere to buy

Where did you guys find the required o-ring to repair the keak. I went to NAPA and they don't even list the item.

Is this a dealer only thing or a Cummins only part?

Cummins will be cheaper than Dodge. Both can get it for you.
