Headlight Relays with a twist
Headlight Relays with a twist
I re-wired my headlights through relays on Wed. and was impressed with the results. I used Wannadiesels wiring diagram minus the third relay and the link to Ramcharger Central. The wire colors were slightly different but a test lead solved that problem.
One thing that initally puzzled me was when I tested everything I didn't have a signal on the dash telling me the high beams were on. I did not find an answer in any of the posts but a quick look at the wiring diagram solved the problem. If you follow the step by step directions you might run into the same problem. The wire that sends the signal to the dash light runs off the drivers side headlight factory plug. The directions were good but did not address this so I left it un-hooked. It's an 18 or 20 ga wire and once hooked up all was well.
I had also converted all my truck and trailer running lights to LEDs over the summer to reduce the load on my 3rd headlight switch. I do not know what the load is now but I'm sure it's less the half of what it was before.
