Headlight Relays: For Dummies

So I don't like messing with actual relay wiring diagrams. I like things to be simple. I'm sure there are people out there that don't understand how to wire a relay by looking at wiring diagrams, so I made this. I figured I would post it for anyone else's use. Hope it helps someone. I wired mine using this diagram I drew earlier tonight and it works fine.

Why are you 'keeping' the old plugs...atleast showing them in the diagram?

You have to get power to trip the relay coils from them.

You defiantly want to replace the stock headlamp sockets because the:

High beam wire is 14 gauge
Low beam wire is 16 gauge
Ground wire is 20 gauge.

Whatever circuit you use design it around a good set from Cole Hersee or Napa and not the cheap ones like at Auto Zone. (Motor-Mite)

well i did mine just tapping into the exsisting harness at the place where the rest of the truck relays are, so if i change the pigtails and run like 12 or 10 gauge to it from the relays, i will get better light?

Possibly. You just dont want to be pulling that much power through a small wire. Doing so can cause the wire to melt/Catch fire/make your CTD go bye byes.
