Hard Starts

It seems as of late, everyonce in a while it takes a lot more to start the truck. Mostly when its warm, but will do it occasionally when its cold as well. It seems it takes about 10+ revs to light up. 90% of the time it'll fire after the first rev. The way my gauges are setup, they are dead during starting (although I'm gonna change that soon), so I don't know what the fuel pressure is during cranking. Smarty is installed (#7), so the lift pump (FASS) runs for half a second before starting. Codes are P0222 (I beleive my APPS is dying, causing the surging I have under no/light load, tired the reset with no change), P0236, P0602 and P1693. Both the FASS and VP are new as of December. I've never seen any fuel leaks around the truck, so I'm doubting its air getting in the fuel lines, but not ruling it out either. Fuel filters have about 10k on them, fuel pressure is 18-19 idle and 14-15 WOT. Any thoughts/suggestions?

First, have you updated you Smarty with the new files that just came out? Try that and see.

2nd, try unplugging your FASS and see how it starts. This is going to be a hit and miss since your issue is not every time.

Thre are ways to disable the FASS when cranking. Here is a link to a thread i just discussed this.

RJohnson has somewhat of the same issue. We might be leaning twards a very small fuel leak. We have tried everything else but disableing the FASS upon start up. Our next test is to try the updated Smarty software. If that is a no go...we might pull the injectors and check all the o-rings.

Try thoes things and see if that helps.......
