Guys with Modified CP3
Hi Guys. I just purchased and installed a 33% CP3 pump. I'm running a Smarty with the following settings Sw7,trq 4, Rail pressure 3,pwr 99 & timing 2. my truck feels good but here is what I am trying to figure out. I can't get my rail pressure over 23,500 psi,my EGT's are about 1250-1300 @ WOT and boost is at 42 lbs. I would think with a stock turbo my EGT's would be higher and rail pressure would be closer to 26500. Any thoughts? Bad rail pressure valve maybe? Also my mileage is down 3MPG. I have always got 19- 20 MPG now I can't get over 16-17. I'm thinking if my rail pressure is down I'm not fully optimizing my fuel and that's hurting my mileage. Thanks guys.
Do you have the QR on a pressure only tune and what are you setting it at? I see 26900(never 27k lol) at WOT with Quad race on 3-4. LP at 30psi. I run the Smarty on 7, tm4, everything else stock. What size are your injs?
Also, if you are using smarty for pressure (you indicate 3 or 4) you shouldn't use the quad race for pressure. Actually, you should do the opposite. Leave smarty at default (stock) pressure and run the pressure from the quad race. Dyno tests confirm that trying to use two pressure sources (regualting pressure curve from both smarty and quad race for example) will keep you from getting best results.
The smarty alone will not go over stock max pressure. It just ramps faster.
You could have a weak pressure relief valve too.
Last, if you are getting 42 psi from a stock he341w turbo, it is going to blow on you fairly quick from overspeed. Anything over about 32psi is in the danger zone for that turbo. And your drive pressure has to be in the stratosphere... you're flirting with disaster there as well.
Running everything maxed out on the smarty does not give max power by the way. You have to tune on a dyno to find out your best settings.

I have 40HP F1 injectors. I'm not running the quad & Smarty together. What is a better Quad pressure only with Smarty pressure off or just Smarty. I can't run the Smarty timing on 4. I get to much engine knock. Yeah I know I pushing the turbo I will probably adjusting my boost elbow to get the boost down to 38lbs until I purchase ED 63/68 turbo. But I'm not really hammering this thing that much. What are you guys running for power level on Smarty 99? Thx
Put the smarty RP on default and use the X2 for pressure, make sure you have the pressure only tune on the X2. You will never see 26k out of the Smarty alone. Also put the timing on default. I run my smarty POD on 99 always. I only turn in down for valet
