Question what gear ratio ?????

looking at buying a 2002 CTD, 4x4 with an auto tranny
does anyone know what gear ratio these trucks usually come with?? How can I tell ?? Any markings on the rearend??

3.54 or 4.10. Should be a sticker under the hood or inside the glovebox door. That same sticker will also tell you whether or not it has an LSD (posi) rear end.

More than likely it is the 3.54 if it has the auto transmission.

2002's have the sticker in the glove box.

There's also a little metal tag attached to one of the diff cover bolts that has the gear ratio on it.

If you can't tell by any of the above, Test drive will confirm...75 mph at 2000 rpm +/- = 3.55 rear end.
When I bgt my 02, could not read the glove box sticker and no tag on differential cover.

You can also get a "Build Sheet" from dealer (Parts Dept.) at no charge; just give them VIN #. It lists all factory options including rear end axle & gear ratio.

or, you can call your local dealers service dept and give them the vin--they can tell ya over the phone
