Fuel leaking from tank
Well after the hour ride home on a flatbed, I noticed the bottom of the tank was wet with diesel. It does not leak while sitting just when I'm driving and pinned it to the top of the tank. Also, my gauge was working fine but I filled it up with fuel yesterday and the Guage won't move off 1/4 tank. I know the sender was just replaced a couple months ago. I don't know if these two things correspond but I know I have never seen fuel leaking before and don't know how it just occurred.
Thanks for any help!

Your talking about the plastic ring that screws on next to the breather? It was a tiny hair loose but I tightened it up but it still leaks a good bit. It was leaking with a quarter tank. What do you think the gauge going bad is? I checked all grounds. It was working right before I put diesel in and then it hasn't moved since.
Thank you

It took a pretty good jolt when the disk hit the ground after losing the wheel, I would think. Maybe it tweeked the sender inside, just thinking outside the box ...Mark

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I guess I won't be able to see to much until I pull the bed or drop the tank. Until then it's gonna just have to leak. Weird thing is the gauge worked for a good while until I pull diesel in it. Still trying to ponder that one.

I have a tank from a ext cab and a reg cab if you need. I will be running all new lines and a fuel cell. Once I pull all I want out of the ext cab for spare parts its getting scrapped. Sad to see her go, but the reg cab is going to be awesome!

Your statement that it only leaks when running means it can only be one thing --- the RETURN LINE.
The same thing happened to one of our trucks and that brittle plastic nipple that the return-line connected to had broken loose from the tank-sender gizmo.
Another possible is the old rotten rubber return hose where it conects to that nipple.
