Fuel Filter
Fuel Filter
I know lots have been written and asked on this subject, but I'm knew to the forum and haven't seen the exact question. I have a 98.5, 24 valve Ram 2500. Reading the Haynes manual it says I need to disconnect the drain hose and unplug the WIF. Is this necessary?
Also, do you get a oil ring with the fuel filter or do you need to purchase it separately.
Thanks for your help.

On my 2002 i just remove the lid on the can and replace the filter. On my 1995 i have to unplug the sensor and unscrew the filter. I remove the sensor on the bench. I am not sure on your model. I find the haynes manuals are generic in nature and full of mis-information.
98.5-99 you have to unplug the WIF sensor, as the base (canister) of the filter housing is what you remove to replace the filter, not the cap as in the later models. The drain hose should not have to be removed, as it is not attached to anything but the filter base ... I never remove mine! Yes, the o-ring comes with the filter.
