Must be for ABS. That's all I can think of.

Nope, that's where a line tees off and goes to the right front wheel. Maybe they stopped doing that when they went to the bigger calipers in 2000, but I know the 94-99 trucks have it.

The left hose on my 2000 was tapped so that the right brake line would hook up. It should be obvious. If yours is different, perhaps the 3500 differs from the 2500 or someone has rigged yours. (I glanced at the 01 FSM & didn't see a diagram but haven't searched hard. Regardless, the tapp is for the right line. Post back when you figure it out.

Is yours not tapped or does this comment represent a SWAG?

The parts store gave me wrong hoses 3 times. They had a list of brake hoses. I finally had 2 stores order the set & bought what matched what I had in hand. Left hose came from 1 store, right came from the other.

At this point I would be getting one from Dodge, using the truck's serial number.

you have the wrong line. the one you have is for a truck with rear wheel ABS, you need one for a truck with 4 wheel ABS

Yeah that makes good sense. Of course a truck with 4 wheel ABS would have a separate channel for each front wheel, instead of having both supplied from the same line.
