Fan belt squeal??
almost each time i shut my motor off in my 2005, 2500 dodge diesel truck the fan belt will squeal. Truck has 45K miles
I replaced the fan belt with a gates heavy duty belt but the noise is still there.
i looked at the pulleys, they looked clean, did not see any build up on any of them.
do all dodge diesels make this noise
i have only had the truck for a few months
the belt that was on the truck when i got it started to make noise at around
41K miles it was starting to come apart, so i replaced it
the belt makes no noise when the truck is running.
only time i can hear a noise is when i shut down the motor.
thank,

It's a common occurance with all Dodge Cummins. The engine when shut off comes to an abrupt hault, while the components are still turning which gives the chrip sound. You're fine. I have had 2 Dodges (VP44 & CR) and both have been that way.

Thanks for your replys,
I will not worry about the belt noise, but next time may buy a gater belt.
have always been a gates belt dude, but it may be time to upgrade.
cannot believe it, but even mama likes the sound of my cummins diesel running.
She really likes the good fuel mileage compared to the old 2500 chevy with 350 engine, that loved every gas station it met.
