I only need the extra HP/TQ when towing. I am not planning on racing anything. A tranny temp gauge is a must. install the sending unit in-line just before the cooler. Watch your temps closely in town ant pulling grades. Synthetic tranny oil runs cooler and doesn't breakdown readily, retains it lubricating properties. Keep your RPM up for better cooling. If temp gets above 235 degs, pull off onto the shoulder, shift into neutral and run at fast idle for trans cooling. <br><br>If you continue to have high tranny temps when towing in the mountains you may want to install a much larger aux. tranny than the factory option. <br><br>Good luck.<br><br>

 

What would you recommend when using Synthetic tranny oil? I am due for fluid change. Does it matter how many miles I have on before starting use a Synthetic tranny oil?

I have an edge comp w/out the pump wire attached (more or less an EZ for now) and it tows fine... I also use a mag-hytec DD trans pan, keeps the tranny temps real low! Well worth it! ;D<br><br>Tony

 

I PUT 11 ROUND BALES ON A 20 FLAT BED SATURDAY AND MY TRUCK PULLED FINE. MADE 4 TRIPS TO GET 44 BALES.<br><br>11 BALES @ 2000LBS. A PIECE. NOW THATS A LOAD PARTNER.<br><br>MY TRUCK IS STOCK, AND I CRUISED IN 4TH AT 55-60MPH. I COULDNT IMAGINE WANTING TO GO FASTER THAN THAT WITH A HEAVY LOAD. TOO HARD TO STOP. I NEED AN E-BRAKE!!

 

Not doughting your story but what kind of hay weighs in at 2000? The coastal that I haul around here only weigh about 900/ bale. I have loaded 22 bales at one time on a 35' trailer.

We make 6' bales, rolled very, very tight. Gardo-Bluestem is the hay, which make for a tightly wound, heavy bale. (but not 2000 lbs.) they have to be atlease 1100, but not 2000.<br><br>boy, i was sure stinking that one up. i must of had my rubber boots on while typing. sorry for the foul up. [undecided]

 

They could concievably weigh 2000lbs if you wrap a few of them feral hogs up in them ;D

 

I think maybe you should change your handle to fat finger kid . Glad that it was a mistake It had me worried about hauling that west coast hay.
