Edge at 5x5

So I traveled about 400 miles this holiday weekend and I found that If I run my Edge Juice with Attitude at 5x5 that I get the best gas millage (Roughly 22-23mpg). Now I keep a VERY light foot and I do NOT race, pull anything or even get crazy at lights. I almost drive like a grandma. My question is can I run a stock tranny and torque converter at 5x5? The previous owner said he put in upgraded shafts and a better torque converter, but I don't want to take any chances. So assuming that it's all stock, will I be alright?

Thanks
Jeff

If you really mean what you say....Yes!
Remember, it's not how much power you have, it's how much you use!
The latter is what affects wear and tear!

Good Luck.... and welcome to this site!

I get my best mileage on 1x5. And I can use the cruise. I am sure that helps, but I get over 23 MPG Hiway with my Vulcan Perfomance compounds and FireBallPro 250's.

It's funny, but at 5x5 the mileage on the overhead is awesome. When hand calculated it seems the same-ish. I see 24-26mpg at 65mph on 5x5 but I think it is because of the VP cycles or pulsing. I think the trip computer sampling rate is hitting at times when the computer is coasting the truck. 5X5 on cruise control is like sitting on a pulse-jet, very unnerving. I'm now running on 3x4 and seeing the same hand-calculated fuel mileage as stock or 5x5. 5x5 is a lot more fun, though....

Level 5x5 is going to have the most injection timing in it, so if you are able to behave yourself, then run it there.

Are you saying that at 5x5 you are getting the same mpg as stock?

What I'm saying is that the overhead shows a lot more mpgs but hand calculated I haven't seen but 1 mpg or so increase. It's awful hard to drive on 5x5 and not punch it every once in awhile. I think one or two WOT takeoffs will negate any fuel improvements I've been trying to achieve. Without the Juice I got a little under 17mpg in mostly highway driving and with the Juice I get a little over 17mpg in mostly highway driving. And driving on cruise with 5x5 is unnerving because it uses full throttle to keep the speed up....

If you're refering to the surging on cruise control, when on higher settings.... it overcorrection.
The computer corrects with factory throttle positions but gets more fuel than it expects. Then it rapidly cuts back the throttle position to compensate. Then the whole procrss starts again.
