driveline seal

Starting to get little puddles of oil under my truck the past few weeks, figured out it was the seal coming out of the T-case, where the driveshaft connects. There are oil spots all over my rearend and fuel tank. Bought the seal,(54 dollars at the dealer) is it just a matter of pulling the driveline, tapping the old one out and tapping the new one in, or are there any secrets too it? Also when I pull the sahft is fluid going to come rushing out? Thinkin maybe I shuold change the u-joints while I have the driveline off, trucks only got 73000 so maybe the originals have some life left in them. Just thought I would ask the experts!! Thanks!

"output shaft seal"

drain the t-case.
pull the u-joint.
pull the big nut.
pry out seal.
replace seal.
replace nut.
replace u-joint.
install drain plug.
fill with fluid (have fun with this part).

yes new u-joints.

Those are great instructions , if you want to put in a pinion seal , Afaik there is not big nut to take off of the output on the T case , the yoke will simply slide out , after you remove the retaining straps on the other end of course.

I think jkm is right, I thought the slip yoke just slips out. Also, whats in the T-case? Gear oil right? Cause it seems that the fluid dripping is red.
